Myspace Begins a New Era of Social Media Networking with Its Totally Updated Theme and Fresh Look
Myspace, one of the highly popular social networking sites owned by Specific Media LLC, is back again with its totally new interface and updated modules. You might be happy to know that everything old is gone, and developers have organized it in a different way to make it more user friendly and reliable.
From the very beginning, it had a great reputation worldwide with strong music emphasis. Its targeted audiences are from the USA, and the 2012 report shows that it has 25 million unique U.S. visitors. Actually, Myspace was founded in the year 2003; and after 2 years of its journey, it became the most-visited social networking site in the world and held the lead for 3 years. But, since the year 2008 Facebook has overtaken it with more unique hits worldwide. To bring back Myspace’s reputation and to generate more unique visitors, Tim Vanderhook, CEO of Specific Media LLC, and Justin Timberlake, a famous actor/pop-music singer and co-owner of this company, have taken initiatives to bring all these changes to their existing platform.
About the new release, company officials say that you have to rebuild your profile and probably need to sign up for a new account, even if you already have a Myspace account. They have announced it as the new version, but we can say it is the redesign of a site that runs both old and new versions simultaneously.
In the new version, you may still find it as an open canvas that gives the users access to express who they are and what their desires are. The appreciable thing is that Myspace has simplified the version by giving the user access to easily figure out the persons who are connected and persons who reciprocate. You get enough functionality with this new version to update your profile and to make it your own.
Some interesting features include connecting with people and objects. You can easily connect to music, people, photos, or anything else that easily demonstrates your identity. Another cool feature is discovering noteworthy events or things like interests, music, movies, and celebrities.
However, you are also getting an updated search option that is very similar to Designspiration. To give the real appeal of a social site, the new Myspace features a “social light rail” that enables you to put a comment or favourite in any post that you are viewing. You can also leave feedback on it that is very close to Facebook. Interestingly, the “News Feed” option of your profile is very similar to Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. The overall combination is visually stunning, but it doesn’t fit the persona of a social networking site.
In the new platform, you can easily listen to music from big music labels or from the numerous independent artists on the site by simply dragging the song to the navigation pane. You can also create your own playlist. But, the limitation is that you can’t download it onto a separate disk drive to listen. They have removed two options from the old platform: profile songs and top 8 friends. You may also like its mix-creating options regardless of specific media kits like videos, audios, and photos.
The new Myspace features an option called “Affinity” to make it easier to connect with people. Actually, this option will help you measure relationships depending on similarities to photo and video likes.
Although Myspace has similarities to Facebook and Twitter, it does have some differences in its category level and functionality. Facebook and Twitter target wide audiences including career professionals, whereas Myspace targets audiences from most creative careers. On the other hand, LinkedIn targets audiences from highly professional careers and business personnel, but this is also evolving. Frankly, it all depends on customization, user functionality, and categorization.
In upgrading the platform and changing modules, Myspace developers have brought a revolution to their old interface. Hopefully, it is now more relevant to the masses and is the right decision for the former social media powerhouse. The new owners are holding to a firm focus of entertainment with music, movies, and arts – and it is really appreciable. Maybe users will face no more difficulties like the old Myspace in getting themselves familiarized with the site. Owners are expecting to earn huge amounts from the new Myspace platform and also hope to go beyond the year 2008, when the revenue was $800 million.
