The number of ultra high net worth (UHNW) people in the world has grown by nearly 6% from 2012. There are now 199,235 individuals that are considered ultra-wealthy, with their fortunes totalling a combined $28 trillion. 23% of this population is made up of 2,000 billionaires whose combined worth totals $6.5 trillion. Ultra-wealthy is defined as someone who has over $30 million in assets.
Almost 10,000 of the new ultra-wealthy population came from North America and Europe. China and Brazil however saw their numbers decrease due to slower economic times. 88% of the ultra-wealthy population is made up of men. There are 23,505 women globally among the UHNW.
