A new study says to expect a surge in emerging market companies over the next 20 years or so, shifting the balance of power and capital around the world.
The report by McKinsey Global Institute (MGI) finds that by 2025:
Emerging market firms could account for nearly half of the Fortune Global 500, double today’s share;
China will account for almost a quarter of the Fortune Global 500;
Approximately 13,000 companies that generate annual revenue of $1 billion or more will be based in advanced economies.
Fueling the growth is increased urbanization, income and appreciation in exchange rates.
Developed markets will also face a challenge: Viewing emerging markets as sources of future customers rather than sources of cheap labor. Learn more here: http://www.firstpost.com/fwire/emerging-market-firms-to-reshape-corporate-world-report-1149253.html?utm_source=fwire&utm_medium=cat_Ideas
